Salary sacrifice:
  • A salary sacrifice is a deduction that comes off an employee’s salary before any tax is deducted from the employees pay – such deductions are: Child Care vouchers , car lease schemes etc. The employees tax is then calculated on their pay after the salary sacrifice has been taken saving- therefore less tax is taken as the tax is calculated on less earnings.

    Pension calculation and percentage taken each pay period will be based on Pensionable pay – any salary sacrifice payments are not included in pensionable pay therefore you will pay less into your pension if you have a salary sacrifice

    Staff Services and our car leasing / purchase scheme is not a salary sacrifice.

How to use the vouchers

-Login to membership plus website www.membershipplus.co.uk/staffservices
-Simply print the voucher from the offer page
-Present it to the merchant along with your Membership plus card.

On the printed voucher there is a unique security code which links to your membership card. Merchants may record this to ensure that vouchers are being securely used by members.

How to obtain shopping cards

Your discount is available by purchasing a pre-paid Shopping Card in advance via the Membership Plus website.

How to order Shopping Cards:

  1. Browse through the available offers by using the search bar or by clicking on the ‘Shopping Cards’ tab on the website, and select the retailer of your choice.
  2. Create a quick account on our dedicated Shopping Card website by following the on-screen instructions. If you have visited the website before, then simply login using your username & password.
    (NB you may have used a different log in username a password for the store/ gift cardssection)
    -If this is your first time, then you will need to register using the registration code.
  3. Load credit onto your chosen card and your discount will be applied. -Your discount will be applied when adding the gift card to your shopping basket.
    -Your gift cards will then be sent to your home address ready for you to use in store.
    We suggest you order more than one card at a time as the small postage will be the same
  4. Receive your Shopping Card in the post or your digital code in your email inbox.
  5. Use your discounted Shopping Card in-store or online to purchase goods from the retailer.
  6. The majority of cards are reloadable meaning you can save each time you top up, and an increasing number are now available as digital codes saving you even more money and time!

Please note:  

There are great savings to be made, especially off grocery shopping but members need to order a shopping card for the specific retailer from the Membership Plus website, not just walk into Tesco, M&S etc with the Membership Plus card. Orders over £200 must be placed over the telephone.
A small postage cost applies for physical cards, however reloadable cards do not incur further postage costs when topping up. There are no postage costs for digital codes.
Visa/Mastercard Credit Cards incur a 1.2% handling charge and American Express incurs a 2.85% processing charge. Debit card, bank transfer or cheques incur no fees. The above fees are correct at the time of print but may be liable to change.

How to top up shopping cards

For a top-up, once you log in to your account, you would be redirected to the website (Voucher Store). On the home page, you can scroll down to find the retailer or you can type the name of the retailer on the search bar (which is on the upper side of the website). Please note that the option you need to select has to include “top-up”.

After you have selected the brand of the card you wish to top-up, add the desired amount to load and then select the card number to be reloaded. Finally, click on “add to basket”.

At this point, you should be able to see your existing cards. However, you can check your email if you received an invite (email) to migrate your cards.

What to do when you receive the store/ gift cards

You can view your shopping card order history with SVM by going to https://cms.svmeurope.co.uk/account/login?ReturnUrl=/clubmarketing/en-GB/ and log in with your registered username and password.

 Once logged in, via the ‘My Account’ option, you can view your order history, reloadable shopping cards and top up options.  To check a balance on a card, please visit http://balancecheckers.com/ or check the retailer terms & conditions on the relevant product page for further information on how to check your gift card balance.

-Your gift cards will then be sent to your home address ready for you to use in store.
-Once you receive store/gift cards they are activated and ready to use.
-To reload use the same process as you followed obtaining the card originally,
-Tick the box marked ‘Reload an existing card’.
-At checkout you need to enter the card number you wish to reload.
-Click on ‘where is my card number’ to ensure that you have entered correct number.
-Proceed to payment.
-Allow 2 working days for funds to be reloaded.
You will be sent confirmation Email and all your other card balances

How to Recommend a Friend

-When your friend or colleague is completing their application form, have them put your name in the recommended by box.
ON APPLICATION FORM Write  on top of form recommended by yourself (your name)
Nb one application cannot recommend an other to join and visa versa. Only 1x£10 voucher will be issued.
£10 voucher will be issued to the person recommending when the recommened person has been processed via Salary & Wages and first deduction received by Staff Services.

Recommend 3 or 5 friends /colleagues.
-When your friend or colleague is completing their application form, have them put your name in the recommended by box with the number 2, 3, 4 or 5 as appropriate.
-All 3 or 5 must be completed applications in a 2 month period.
-When the recommendation is processed via Salary & Wages we will send you out your voucher/cinema tickets/etc.
All offers are subject to availability and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers. Offers may change throughout the year. To receive these offers, you must be a paying member of Staff Services.

Membership by Direct Debit

Membership subscription is non-refundable and may be varied. deductions will continue when moving between trusts (Minimum membership is for 1 calendar year, annually from 1st January to 31st December. Subsequent year renewed automatically, cancellation requests only processed 1st December to 31st December), Cancellation is made via the Staff Services office only. Communication from Staff Services and service providers of latest benefits will be emailed on a regular basis. Every effort is made to keep members’ details up to date, but the onus is on the member to keep us informed of contact address changes, otherwise we cannot guarantee correspondence / Benefits Directory to be delivered to the correct address.

How to SAVE from salary – (Saving Scheme) FOR ANY BANK or BUILDING SOCIETY

-Fill in the necessary details and return to Staff Services office, D Floor Tower Block BCH.
-Call into our office at D floor, the Belfast City Hospital to complete form.

-Once set up, savings can begin.

Does paying into staff services affect my pension

The answer to your question is that it does not affect your pension.

Your subscriptions are deducted from your NET pay, after statutory deductions for Pension, tax and NI. Staff Services is deducted at £4.95 per month.

If you join us and use the card and savings actively, you will NOT lose any money, rather save hundreds per annum on all kinds of everyday transactions.

If you chose to get a car through Staff Services, the payment is taken after statutory deductions from salary, so again, no impact on pension.

If you were to use the salary sacrifice scheme operated by the Trust, then this does have a pension impact, for example in the car deductions are taken from gross salary, therefore if you multiply the car payment by 12, then your gross salary will be reduced by the same amount each year that you pay for the car.

Update of address

Members please remember to keep us up to date with any changes to your address as we cannot guarantee you will receive future information, card or benefits book.
New membership card & book pack will be sent to the work address as supplied or updated by the member. If a member has subsequently changed address please check ASAP at their previous address as supplied to Staff Services. This is where membership pack will have been sent. If the member has not informed Staff Services of updated address we can supply replacement card & book at cost (see below).

Membership Terms

In joining I authorisation & agreement is given to the following:

Membership is on an annual basis, subscription be deducted from my NHS salary or paid in full upon joining.

i.e. Staff Services membership fee of £65 is paid in advance or the £65 fee is deducted in intervals of £1.25 weekly.  it being is non-refundable and may be varied. That deduction to continue when moving between Trusts. (For administration reasons minimum membership is for 1 calendar year, annually, from 1st January to 31st December. Subsequent years renewed automatically from 1st January). If joining at anytime in the year membership applies for the remaining part of the that year and subsequent year.

Please note: Staff Services facility works with the cooperation and agreement of Salary & wages Department hence governed by our arrangement with them which only allows appropriate cancellation requests to be accepted and processed 10th November to 10th Dec. This is required primarily to allow for workflow pressures and enable Salary & Wages Dept to process cancellations in time before the start of subsequent year. 

  Contact details being used to receive updates from Staff Services and our service providers of latest benefits. In order to receive correspondence / Benefits Directory be delivered to the correct address, please keep Staff Services informed of contact address changes. Any administration costs will not be refunded.

In regard to publicised material & when joining Staff Services: All offers, services and facilities are subject to change and availability.

It should be noted that Salary and Wages Dept do not respond to Membership queries and are referred back to Staff Services.

FREE MEMBERSHIP OF STAFF SERVICES ON CAR PURCHASE

On purchase of a new car you are intitled to 1 year free membership of Staff Services. This is in the form of a voucher equivalent to 1 year membership for both members & non-members.

To avail of the free membership for non-members they are required to complete an online membership here   Staff Services can then send you a members digital card, hard copy card & pack , allowing you to avail of over 1000 money saving offers Province wide as well as Nationally.  

As a requirement of the manufacturers, in order to avail of the prices available through Staff Services Autochoice. Staff Services must process the car buyer as a new member. This will include setting up the Staff Services Subscription

Health Staff Autos car purchase / lease discount scheme . Summery:

On purchase or lease of a car, you are intitled to 1-year free membership of Staff Services. This is in the form of a voucher equivalent to 1 year membership for both members & non-members.

Cancelling Annual Subscription
  • Membership of Staff Services is for the full year, from 1st January to 31st December as an annual fee.

    It is spread over the 12 months to suit members and accommodate Salaries and Wages. It allows us to keep the fee at such a low amount with automatic renewal.

    Cancellation requests can only be accepted from 15th November to 15thDecember to prevent new membership card being printed, a new membership pack being prepared and delivered for the following year.

    ALSO, WE WORK WITH CO-OPERATION OF SALARY & WAGES & their constraints.   Salary & Wages require our instructions one month in advance to accommodate termination for the following year.

    From 15th November/15th December period all cancellation requests are automatically sent an email with a link to the online cancellation form. It is essential to use this form as it will supply your full details for processing to insure cancellation. Please check for receipt of the email including spam location.

    All members that contacted us to cancel during that period will have their deductions stopped and their subscription ended in line with the membership terms & conditions.

    We do understand some members will wish cancel at various times of the year, but we have to work, as agreed, with the co-operation of Salary & Wages in this respect.

    Salary & Wages request not to contact them directly regarding deductions as you will be referred to contact Staff Services to process.

    Due to the present economic & staff shortages delays can be expected regarding changes to deductions. We apologise for this, but it is beyond our control.

    Your membership for 2024 is in effect, if you do not wish to renew for 2025, please contact us in November.
