The apartments are simply furnished, with a wide choice of room layouts available for couples, groups and families. Add in bars and a restaurant onsite, and you’ve got all the perks of a big hotel, for a no-frills price.
After a day’s skiing on the pistes of both Italy and France, why not slip off for some well-earned downtime? For a small price you can make use of the steam room, sauna, fitness room and indoor pool.
Once you’re suitably rested and recharged, there are tons of great local dining options to choose from, or stay in and enjoy the Planibel’s own restaurant, Raclette.
Known as Little Siberia among the Italians, La Thuile enjoys excellent conditions and amazing views of the Matterhorn, Monte Rosa and Mont Blanc. With most slopes facing east, it’s got a great snow record covering its long, wide runs. The lifts are very efficient and have high capacity, meaning that there are pretty much no queues during the week. The resort is generally more suited to intermediate skiers with some of the more challenging runs being the home runs back into the village, although you can get the cable car back down if you prefer.
The mountain has plenty of places to eat and drink, having improved greatly over the past few seasons, with the opening of some very good (and reasonable) Italian restaurants. The village has a relaxing après ski atmosphere with a range of bars that will have free snacks with your drinks. The town isn’t too lively after midnight with just King’s Bar staying open into the early hours.
All apartments have a kitchenette with two hot plates, kettle, microwave, fridge and a basic range of crockery and kitchen utensils; bathroom with private bath or shower and WC; satellite TV, telephone, hairdryer and safe. Towels, linen and mid-week towel change are included. Cot hire available for €10 per night – please request at time of booking.
